How to Choose the Correct CASTrGARD for Your Equipment?

CASTrGARD devices are available in 3 different sizes, 45SM, 456MD and 67LG. Please refer to the technical drawings & specifications below to choose the appropriate devices for your clinical needs.

How to use

How to install your CASTrGARD

GENERAL USE

The closed and locked position is the proper operating position. Place CASTrGARD on all four wheels. To transport clinical machines across uneven surfaces (such as carpet) or gaps in the floor (e.g. elevators or expansion plates), all devices must be removed to avoid tipping over machines while moving.

INSTALLATION (CLOSING)

To apply the device, place CASTrGARD in open position around the wheel. Bring both halves of the device together until locking tab locks into the opposite side. Locking tab must be fully seated in locking tab opening with edges of device flush together. Verify the device is placed on the floor with the UP arrow pointing upward and the correct label orientation.

CLEANING & STERILISATION

All standard disinfectants, a mild soap and water solution, and mild detergent and damp cloth are safe to use in cleaning the CASTrGARD devices.

CAUTION: Do not autoclave. If deemed necessary, use a sterilisation protocol that complies with your facility’s infection control and risk management policies for anaesthesia machine wheels.

MAINTENANCE & INSPECTION

Periodically inspect the device to ensure that it is securely locked and functioning properly. It is recommended to examine the hinge and locking tab on an annual basis. CASTrGARD devices should be stored in the closed position when not in use. A complete inspection of each CASTrGARD device is recommended prior to placing the devices back into service. Replace any CASTrGARD devices that are damaged, broken or do not function properly.

IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUES

CASTrGARD devices should be used on all four wheels for optimum safety and performance. CASTrGARD can be safely used on a variety of operating room equipment including anaesthesia machines, electrosurgical generators, drug carts and minimally invasive surgery carts.

WARNING: To avoid possible damage or injury, remove all CASTrGARD devices from wheels prior to transporting machines across uneven surfaces.
